Some Things That Really Get My Goat

Today’s post is about “Things that really get your goat” or in shorter parlance “PET PEEVES.” For those that need a definition here it is, “A pet peeve is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly annoying to them, to a greater degree than others may find it.” In other words the small stuff you sweat over. Why am I writing this now you may ask. Well I’ll tell you. It started with these two FaceBook posts directed to me by someone who has no respect for how other people were raised or respect for the person at all. I’m not going to name the person but if they read this then they will know who I’m talking about.

This is unbelievable I just cleaned the kitchen and stove from breakfast this morning because a certain individual left a major mess!!! Then this person comes into the kitchen and left another mess on the stove and left the skillet that I just cleaned DIRTY!!!!! AUUUGHHHHHHH The AGONY!!!

And then this one:

This is just one of may things that Peeve me. My list is as follows.

  1. Someone who doesn’t have the guts to confront you but instead puts it out online for the whole world to see.
  2. Someone who can’t do anything but complain about you when you do nothing but respect them.
  3. Someone who is staying at your house and rearranges the kitchen from the way that works best for the person that uses it the most so it’s the way they like it.
  4. Someone who knows you have dogs, is staying at the house and still complains about the dogs.
  5. Someone who thinks the things they ask you are higher priority then the stuff you are working on.
  6. Someone who asks you a question but doesn’t give you a chance to answer before they get all upset wanting to know why you haven’t answered yet.
  7. Someone who cannot stay out of your business.

I know I am no means perfect and do some of the things I mention above. I also know that this list is now way complete. I do things my way in my time and that’s how it is. I realized a long time ago, you need to remember, I’ve been around since 1958, that if I worried about the little stuff I was going to give myself a coronary, so I changed my philosophy. I live by two rules and they are in no particular order:

  1. Don’t sweat the small stuff because it’s all small stuff.
  2. Life goes by pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

So I’m going to ask you my readers, “What are your pet peeves and what do you do to deal with them?” and “Do you have a rule or slogan you live by and what is it?”

Until the next post “DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF”

Obama Announces Forum on Finding Jobs

7114648_600x338From the Associated Press –

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama announced Thursday that he’ll host a White House summit next month on combating the chronic joblessness that continues to be a drag on a struggling economy.

“We are open to any demonstrably good idea to supplement the steps we’ve already taken to put America back to work,” Obama said before taking off for a trip to Asia, where U.S. and global business prospects will be among the key issues under discussion.

Speaking at the White House, the president called a report showing fewer claims for jobless benefits “a hopeful sign.” But with millions of Americans out of work, Obama said the government has “an obligation to consider every additional responsible step we can” to get people back to work.

The nationwide unemployment hit 10.2 percent last month, the highest jobless rate since 1983. Economists believe more jobs will be lost, and the unemployment rate could possibly reach 10.5 percent next year because employers remain reluctant to hire.

The December jobs “forum” will bring in public and private sector experts to talk about how to get the job-creation engine running again, Obama said. Because economic prosperity at home is tied to economies around the world, the president said he also plans to talk about a strategy for growth with leaders in Asia.

“It’s a strategy in which Asian and Pacific markets are open to our exports,” Obama said. “Prosperity around the world is no longer as dependent on American consumption and borrowing, but rather more on American innovation and products.”
